About Me
I am an applied engineering student at the University of Antwerp, currently completing a Master of Science in Electronics and Information and Communication Technology, with a specialization in IoT and Low-Power systems. Prior to this, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and ICT, focusing on IoT, from AP University of Applied Sciences Antwerp. My passion lies in creating sustainable and innovative solutions that have a meaningful impact to both society and individuals. I thrive in every stage of the development process—from conceptual design and circuit development to PCB assembly and ensuring sustainable end-of-life practices, embodying a cradle-to-cradle mindset. Aside the student part, I work on various "mini" projects at home such as drones, RC-cars, smart home, small handy tools, and DIY about everything that is possible. To let my mind rest once in a while, I love to go hiking in the mountains. At least for a couple of hours to see the breathtaking sights from mother nature!

Atlas Copco - Student job as Junior Cyber Physical Systems Developer
A fascinating student job where I could use my gained software engineering knowledge from college. While it was a student job, I was responsible for reworking a used system which is still under active development. So keeping track of the backlog and changes was a must! In order to finish this, team communication was important to get reviews and explanation of used software.

ED&A - internship
The second semester of the last academic year at AP University of applied Sciences is reserved to conduct a bachelor thesis in combination with an internship. I did this at the prosperous company E.D.&A. The project itself was a proof of concept in which we can realize gesture control (linking movements to an action) with ToV (Time of Flight) sensors. Because E.D.&A designs Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) and assembles these in house, I had the opportunity to develop my own PCB with guidance of the hardware engineers and hardware test engineers. The development of embedded software was with guidance of the chief software engineer.
It was an exciting and challenging internship in combination with the bachelor thesis.

Projects
-
Track MowerDesigned and developed a tracked grass mower to remotely mow grass in hard-to-reach areas. This project served as a prototype and proof of concept, showcasing a comprehensive development process from the ground up. It involved circuit design, CAD modeling, 3D printing, laser cutting, and assembly.
For more details, see the project documentation here (written in Dutch, my native language). -
Hand Gesture ControlDeveloped a hand gesture control system using ToF (Time-of-Flight) sensors during my internship at ED&A. This project involved designing and implementing a solution that leverages precise sensor technology to interpret hand movements accurately.
For more details, see the project documentation here (written in Dutch, my native language). -
L-system generationI've had a course DataStructures at University of Antwerp. Here, I had to make a system in L-system written in c++. To make things more advanced, templates where used to provide a generic access to create multiple different L-systems with different axioms, alphabet, and rules. After the generation, this generated structure needed to be displayed. For this, Turtle was used in Python.
For more details, see the readme here.
Please, see my GitHub for further projects which includes school and personal projects. I try to document everything so it is clear in an eye sight what is stands for.
